I talked to my daughter about trading one of her time shares so we could all stay together, but that didn't pan out. I know I have a place to stay, but I think it would be great if we could all stay at the same place. All we need is for someone who lives in Chicago, hint hint Eileen, to try to locate a good place that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

Who is planning on going? The more the merrier. As you see, I'm not one to wait until the last minute. But it is only four months away.

I am going. Who else is going?

I'm planning on being there. Just tell me where to be. :)

I'm in too! I'd have everyone here, but with Mom, it would be impossible. Tell me again where the show is going to be, and I'll start asking some friends that are more familiar with the downtown area than I am where the closest and best bargins may be. I have a feeling in the downtown area they'll be nothing reasonable.

Eileen sounds like she's more familiar with the area than I am, so she probably will be more helpful than I will be.

Last minute for me would not be good either since I have to make arrangements for someone to be with Mom for a few days overnight.

Jackie

All I know right know Jackie is that it will be at the Hyatt McCormack Place on So. Martin Luther King Drive. From what I hear it isn't the best part of town and there are no restaurants around there according to Eileen. Guess we could all stay away from town and ride the "El" to get there. We should all be safe with all the training we've had caring for our LOs.

Amanda said it would be displayed Sept. 23rd and/or 24th. I'll let you know exactly when she lets me know.

Lori,
Where are you now? I'm heading north today so I'll be looking for you. Just let me know when. You have my cell number. If not I'll check my email once in awhile to see what's up.
Keep your driving safe. Take care.

I wish I could say, for sure? It is $$$, and distance, that will be my challenge. Also, if anything was to happen to my Mom (out of the ordinary) between now & then. My decision, may have to be last minute.

Hi ALL,

Downtown will be expensive but it is centrally located. The Hyatt at McCormack Place isn't bad, it's isolated by the expressway and you will HAVE to drive get to get to anything.

Can this Amanda person get you all a deal at theHyatt because the quilts will be o display there??

What about transportation? Will you use 1 persons car to do short hops?

How long will everyone be staying?

What are your interests - museums, food, landmarks?

Any physical limitations, dietary restrictions, bugets?

Lots of questions.
I'm willing to help arrange but I've never done this before so bare with me.

Keep me posted
Eileen

I can't speak for everyone but as for me, I really don't want an expensive hotel. I don't care if we stay downtown or drive in from the suburbs. It's not like we are going to be spending all day looking at the quilts. Part of the fun of this is meeting each other and spending time with each other.

Joyce, I'm still in CA for a little while. I'll be heading for Jackie's in a couple weeks.

[font=Comic Sans MS]I thought I had found the perfect place, The Penthouse at Grand Plaza, (http://www.vrbo.com/7757) split amongst several of us it wouldn't be bad and what a view. But, Joyce says the only way she can stay in a penthouse is if it's no higher than the 5th floor. I told her I didn't think there were many 5th floor penthouses in Chicago.

I'll be there if the sky doesn't fall. I would love to see everyone and meet some new folks.

I'm making tentative plans to go. Again, with DH out of work, and I'm only getting 30 hours per week, I have to know how much hotel costs will be.

If I'm not mistaken, Chicago has a free bus service to all the popular landmarks and they used to have special weekend passes for the transit lines (bus and subway) for visitors. I know it was only $5 per person back 3 years ago.

I can find out from my Thai daughter (Bee works at the Thai Consulate in Chicago) what the going rates are.

I'll be driving right past your house Deb. We'll figure out something.

Hey Guys/Gals, I'm up north. Boy was it hard walking in here. The neighbors met me when I got here and had me down for dinner tonight.

I am asking for time off for that time period, but it will still depend on how much $$$ I have available. I might have to bring my own food to eat the entire time we're there. I'm not kidding, either.

Hi Pat,
We are planning on going to Chicago for the Sept. 24th showing of our quilt. I've posted the info elsewhere on the forum. I hope you will be able to make it.

Deb,
Maybe we can work something out because I'll be driving right past your house. I'll talk to you about it more when time gets closer and I have more time on the internet.
