Snick! I'd like to join you in throwing in my bra too! As Joyce says, those were days when people would stand up for other's rights - peacefully. As "PEACE" was our motto! lol!

Lori - OMG! I had NO idea you served in the military! What branch? Wow! I would love to hear more about what you did! I am even more honored to know you! THANK YOU! THANK YOU for ALL that you did on behalf of our country! I admire ALL the men and women who serve our country in any and ALL capacities!

Joyce - what a wonderful story about your husband! Thank you for sharing that with us. I think that back then, we had a cause to defend and fight for. This brought about a sense of comradery and closeness with our neighbors. . no matter their race, color or religion! We bonded!

I know I've been bad about posting on this site. . .especially after my mother died. And I know that Lori lives in the Chicago area, No, Lori? But where do you all live? I've been involved lately with another support group here in the Orlando area and planning a retreat weekend. It would be nice someday (when I can afford it again. .) to plan such a weekend with ADcaregivers forum members. I would love to meet you all someday! I feel like you are part of my extended family with all the support that you have given me! In many ways. . .like sisters!

Sorry ladies but I can't join in the bra burning. It would make it difficult to walk with those things hanging down to my knees. :)

By the way Connie, there is no way in this world that I would be living in snow country. You can't get much better than California. ;)

Dear Connie,
My prayers are with you too!
My mom passed in November. The hospice team was wonderful, they asked me what mom's/my wishes were for her. I said "No pain, & no fear" so she was on Morphine too, and passed in her sleep. The past several visits before, all I saw in her eyes was fear! That horrible look of 'unknowing', her final breaths were a relief..knowing she is now at peace and with loved ones.

Take go*d care, Shaye

Oh my! Bra burning, protesting? I'm much too young to remember any of that.

Connie, I was really sorry to hear about your husband loosing his job. Gosh, when is all this going to stop. Well, all of you that don't have jobs, how would you like to come and cook, clean, take care of mom and me and go crazy for at least 6 weeks??! The pay isn't bad, and the benefits are good too. Breakfast, lunch, snacks and and some humorous shows when Mom and I start fighting. Hmmm, I didn't think so. The going crazy part and taking care of mom did it huh???

Connie, I'm the one that lives in Illinois near Chicago. God forbid Lori would ever have to come here between Dec and March. We'd have to de-ice her daily, even if it was in the 40's. She shakes just thinking about it!! She told me in the morning when I get up to look out the window and say, "this is the day the Lord made", as it always makes her feel better. The next day I got up, looked out all my windows, and said exactly that. WE had a blizzard that day!! I challenged her to come to Illinois and say that, but she refused. lol

Although my husband is very fortunate to have a job, our income has decreased significantly. He's a hair stylist, and believe it or not, people are not getting their hair done like they used to. Waiting longer for cuts, and perms, and obviously not afraid to let that bit of gray show in their hair. And the weather kills us. He gets to work in rain, snow, sleet and hail, like the mailman, and then he has cancellations galore!! But not complaining as he still does have a job, and we are luckier than most and very thankful. I wish I could just win that million to be able to give it away to everyone I know thats having a tough time. That would be my dream!!

Jackie
