Hello all,

There is a sweet lady at the Memory Care Center where my mom is, she is loved by all of us. She has had 2 seizures, 2 weeks apart, no apparent problems after except she is a bit more high strung. She's only 66 yrs. old. Her daughter and I are friends and we talk about our mom's. After the 2nd seizure her Dr. wants to take her off Aricept and Namenda by lowering the dose for one week, then taking her off all together. Then he wants to start weaning her off the Seroquel. Nurse at the facility is very uncomfortable as is the daughter. Anyone have experience with this? She has been on the Aricept for several years. I would think taking her off one at a time would be better to see which one is possibly causing the seizures, may not even be the meds.

Thanks everyone,

~Kelly~

Sounds iffy to me too. Tell her daughter, a second, third, or even a fourth opinion, never hurt anyone.

I have to say that I agree with the weaning her off one medication at a time, even if they aren't the cause of the seizures.

To take her off of them all at once would be a major blow to her mental well-being, and may cause behavioral problems.
