Hello all,
Yesterday mom received a handbook from Medicare called Medicare and you - 2009. Now she probably has gotten this book every year sinces she's been on Medicare, but since I've never had problems yet with anything, I guess I wasn't interested.
This book is very informative. It really does tell you all of a persons rights, and that they want to know about things such as what's happening with Connie's Mom. Keep in mind that my book is on Illinois medicare. But I would suggest if you haven't in the past read it, to do so. The 800 number on there is 1-800-633-4227 and the website is
www.medicare.gov
I imagine that number is statewide, and so is the website. If you haven't received this book, I would request one to have on hand. Again, I'm sure everyone on medicare receives this every year, but this seems to be the first year that it has gotten my attention.
I've sent this information plus a few highlighted things to Connie via email that she may find interesting regarding nursing home rights once your there. Again, it may be different in other states, but certainly worth looking into.
