Just had to share what happened last night.

I am helping a friend by staying with her Mother for a couple of hours twice a week. I forgot to remove my name tag from my other job (I'm a PT caregiver), and Clarice (the Mom) point-blank asked me if Joyce (her daughter--my friend) had sent me there to babysit her. I replied, "Well, I'd rather it be considered that I was visiting a friend--you."

A few minutes later, she asked me again, and I said I was staying with her to keep her company. Her reply made me laugh-- "Well, I'm glad it's you who is babysitting me... I don't want a stranger!" Made me feel good.

My friend is surprised that I'm doing so well with Clarice. As the ALZ progresses, I may be helping out even more.

Deb, I think no matter how much this disease ravishes their mind, they can still find comfort in a friendly face and a loving heart.

Oh Deb, what a nice thing for you to be doing for your friend. Hey, if your ever in the Chicago area and need a job, I might be needing a new Granny Nanny. The pays not great, but alot of benefits! I provide breakfast, lunch and dinner if you come here at night. I'll buy your favorite drink of choice, non alcoholic of course. And I'm a really good listener if you have a family thats not quite sane! And you even get to take naps if you happen to pass out on me!

Your friend is very fortunate to have you, and I'm glad you help her out. If anyone knows this, we sure do.

Jackie
