I just thought I would pop in here and see if I could find you. How are you doing these days? :)

Good morning Memaw!
Yes, I am here. Not as much as I used to be, but I step in now and again. "The Little One" is off for the summer, so that means getting things ready for choir camp, scout camping, etc. We are planning a birthday party for him Monday. His birthday is in Feb., but he is tired of having "cold" parties, so we have the pool ready, and lawn games all set up. I do not look forward to grilling hot dogs and burgers on the grill, in 86ยบ weather, but there is the pool.LOL

I had a colonoscopy done May 18, and thankfully I only have moderate diverticulosis. Now, I have to lose 7# by August, and 17 by next August per doctor's orders. Hopefully, I can do better than that! I am tired alot, and body aches, too.

I was up in Traverse City with my Mom a week ago. They thought they had found a blockage in front of her heart. They found she had no blockage, but does have an abdominal aortic aneurism. They will do a scan this coming week, to check on that. She is afraid, because her youngest Sister had a brain aneurism burst and she had a stroke years ago. She has never fully recovered, and now has dementia. Her oldest Sister passed away from an abdominal aneurism bursting about 6 years ago. In her favor, though, is that she is very proactive in her health. All of this was found before any symptoms were present.

As for my Sister-in-law, we have not heard from her since MIL's funeral. She did have an attorney send us a letter, accusing us of having valuable art work(yeah, right!), and that it was considered our portion of the estate. She must not have realized that the account Mom had, was separate from the estate, and was divided as necessary, after Hubby explained to the company what they were supposed to be doing!!! Haven't heard any more about the "art". I really do not expect to hear from her, unless she becomes indigent. I really thought, when Mom became ill, that relationships were improving. As is usual though, when the money was involved-sayonara!

Other than that, I am doing fine, thank you for asking!

Oooops, I see I need to change my avatar!

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges. You know the drill - the main thing is that you must take care of you or you cannot effectively help anyone else. (OK - so now I should practice what I preach? )

The more I know, the more I think I'm grateful Mom doesn't have any money or "valuables". One of my dearest friends, who has been taking care of her mom pretty much alone, has just been turned on by her brother and sister AND her own two daughters over the money that is being spent. ALF's are expensive but why should her Mom's money be skimped on just so some of it will be left to give away? Wow. What gets into people? I will never understand it.

It's good to hear from you. I hope you feel better soon.

Maebee,
Mom had AAA surgery in May of 2006. If there's anything I can help you with as far as questions about recovery etc., let me know. It's a pretty tough surgery.

Thank you, so much, Jackie.
We'll know what they're going to do, once they do the scan. It is this Wed.
