Jackie asked me to let everyone know that her computer is sick. She is putting it in the computer hospital today and doesn't expect to be back online for 2 or 3 days. She didn't want anyone to worry about her or to think that she has forgotten any of you. She sends her love.

Lori,
Thanks for letting my forum friends know my computer was sick. I begged the computer doctor to fix it asap, or with the other viruses passing around in this house - Mom and Hubby - I would go absolutely crazy!! And he did, I got it back today. I must have really sounded pathetic. So for $100 it was diagnosed, given a shot of something, a little physical therapy and even got a spa treatment. (It was so dusty) And is now working like a charm. So I'm backkkkkkkkk!!!!

Carol,
I laughed so hard when I read your get well card. It was so darned cute! Winslow will be proud! What talent you have!
Thanks!

And everyone, whatever you do, if you get something from your security center saying there's an anti-virus 2009 available, and you have 81 viruses, don't fall for it like I did. By the time they supposedly did the scanning, it left me with if I wanted all my viruses gone, I'd have to pay $80 for the software. And this didn't come by email, it just appear on my screen and had the security logo. So don't fall for it. My computer doc said it is going around, so close it right away. Boy, have I learned my lesson.

Jackie

Hey Jackie!

This virus stuff must be going around BIG TIME! I JUST got my computer back today too! It was VERY sick with about 50+ viruses that kept uploading Adware! It locked up my computer! Thank Goodness that our neighbor had a great computer guy who fixed it for $130!!! So you got a good deal!

So what's up with all these computer problems?? And where are we getting them?? This is a scary situation!

Connie

Glad you are back online sweetie.I remember when it was relatively safe to surf the www. Now, not so much. Too many people out to ruin a good thing, I guess.

I just wanted to say that I've also heard of a lot of viruses and trojans (malware) going around especially through websites. I clicked on a google result one day a few weeks ago and caught one of these trojans called spyware cleaner. It claimed I had thousands of viruses and spyware and wanted me to pay to clean them. If you guys ever run into that, hopefully you don't, but you can fix it with this program called SmitFraud Repair, which is free. Just though I'd share that.

Carol,

I was so pleased to see your poetic response. I can tell from your elemental use of imagination and imagery you make good use of rhythm, rhyme and tone to enhance your work. It appears your gift for topic selection and rhyming has served you well.

Some of my poetry is writen in unrhymed iambic pentameter, which, as you know, is nothing more than blank verse often unobtrusive and resembling the rhythms of ordinary speech wihle many of my other poems are composed of either rhymed or unrhymed lines having no set fixed metrical pattern. Also, I have used the elegy type of poetry, which, of course, is a sad and thoughtful poem lamenting the death of a person. Do you have a favorite type for your work?

The reason I have offered the above is because I'm "half-way" writing/compiling a book of my poetry and would be honored to include some of your works. If you are interested, please have your agent contact my agent.

And, Carol, don't thank me for my offer. Talent is easy to recognize but I would not have even known about it had it not been for Jackie and her computer woes. So, my friend, send applause and thanks to her.

Your poetic soulmate,

Joyce

Oh Carol,

Take Joyce up on her offer. You may think that it wasn't clever what you wrote me, but it really was. And if Joyce recognizes it as such, then it must really be good. She does know what she's talking about. She has presented many wonderful pieces to us since being on the forums. Go for it! What an honor to be included with her in the book she's compiling.

And Joyce, so nice to hear from you. Come back and join us when you can. We can always use expertise advice when it comes to caregiving. Got anymore projects? We could all sure use a little fun on here again. This caregiving sure can get gruelling!

Roses are red, Violets are blue.
It's so nice to have you here too!

Oh God, was that bad or what. Bet I won't be in Joyces book huh??

How about a poetry contest Joyce??

My computer guy told me after he fixed my computer not to buy any of those spyware offers. He said there are many good free ones out there that will do the same thing.

Sorry for the comp problems, I'm glad you got them fixed!

Firefox 3 is buggy as anything if you have it as a browser. My favore (and free!) Spyware finders are Spybot and Adware.

I liked your poem Carol! :)

Oh, Carol, I'm so sorry  I forgot to mention your agent is probably attending the same gathering as mine - the International Literary Agents 39th Annual Conference in Tibet this week. And wouldn't you know, the primary focus is on poetry this year! I would e-mail my agent to get in touch with your agent but I don't have the international password to access that system. So, we will just have to wait for a few more days.

I noticed that while Jackie is pushing for you to come aboard, she is also trying to insert herself into the equation. Carefully read her closing couplet. Using your poetic skills, carefully critique it. If you decide her work meets with your standards, I'm okay with that.

Hey, Jackie, I agree. We need some type of project. Let me think - Say, what about a poetry contest?

What about throwing the idea of a project to the full forum and see what kind of ideas come up? Just a thought...

Take care,

Joyce

Karen,

So the name of the program you use is called Avast? Do I just google that and download it. Not going to do anything though until you let me know. God forbid I got this info wrong and get another virus. I don't use my space, but I have used youtube. Guess I'll stop that.

let me know when you can

thanks,
jackie
