I'm willing to parnter on up...... if you need someone....

I've tried --- failed....and really want to rid myself of them--same reasons...after all not getting younger....

anyways--the patch worked well on my sister, the other sister did the hyponotize and the brother---well he used Wellbutin & the patch--perhaps the gum as well...don't talk to him so wouldn't know any more than that....

Just keep trying ladies. I have been smoke free for 10 days now but it took me over a year to get to this point.

KUDOS to you new non-smokers!

I was all ready to quit, when the tax went up, and my neighborhood gas station put up a big sign:
"We are not raising our cigarette prices"!!!!
I don't smoke much-less than 1/2 pack a day-but it is time to quit. If only I can get Hubby to quit, too. THAT is my biggest hinderance. I can go until 10pm some days, then I go downstairs, where he spends most of his home-time(we only smoke downstairs with a fan in the window), and there I go! I suppose if I were really ready, I could do it.

I have read that drinking lots of water helps get the nicotine out of your system faster, too.

I'm rooting for all of you, and will follow your progress.

Way to go, Lori!!

There is one major drawback Maebee. Everything that can go in my mouth, is going in my mouth. It will take a crane to get me out of my house soon. :)

You need to find some positive things to do with your hands, Lori. I can send you some yarn and either knitting needles or crochet hooks.

Work in a garden, go for LO-o-o-ong walks. or run if you can. learn to paint or draw... anywhere you can get some distance between you, the cigarettes and the munchies...!

HUGS to all of you in your mission to quit smoking!

Hi Snick, I'm wondering how you are doing? You should be passed the worst by now.

I am gearing up to start a program of using a smokeless cigarette called Aeros. I am starting it on Monday.

I have recently been dx'ed with COPD and emphysema. It is imperative I quit now. There is no more playing around.

I am so sorry to hear your diagnosis but as you say now you have no choice but to work hard and get away from cigarettes. Try everything available and do whatever you have to to quit. There is no shame in gaining a few pounds when you substitute good food for smoking. I will be thinking of you. Take care.

Hello from long ago..........I've been without a computer for a couple of months and am just online again today.

Snick, I have also been Dx COPD/emphysema. Been a smoker for.....let's just say decades, okay?
A year ago I tried Chantix and it helped curb the urge but I never actually quit.
I did quit in early February -- used the patch. That lasted 9 weeks and just before Easter I started smoking again. Can you say STUPID?????
I'm finding it much harder to quit this time even tho I felt much better during those 9 weeks. I have the patches and need to get serious and set another quit date............I definitely know what you're going through

How's it going Snick? This is a tough habit to break. I have been smoke free for a month now and still think about having one every day. Of course now I'm hooked on the Aeros so tomorrow I get the pleasure of withdrawing from them. UGH!

I am actually doing remarkably well, considering. My daughter dumped her scooter and broke her tibia (right below her kneecap) yesterday so we spent the weekend in Madison at the hospital with her. Not for sure when surgery is as the Dr. is waiting till some of the swelling goes down to do the surgery. It may not be just one surgery, it may involve a few of them so we will have to see how this all works out.

I couldn't smoke on the hospital grounds or in her apt and it was too cold to smoke outside as I wasn't dressed for the cooler weather up there. I only managed a few smokes actually.
