Not sure if this is the right place for this topic, but here goes.

I want to learn what you all are using for cleaning.

I use the disinfecting pop-up wipes for cleaning the bathroom floor - whatever's on sale.

I use baking soda and Oxy clean (and soap) to clean and deodorize the laundry.

I went to a site call Allclean.com for a product called Urine Containment Treatment. You can buy it in liter($16.00) and/or gallon($30.00) sizes. What's great about it is that it's a pleasant smell - not overpowering like pine or disinfectant. Just let it set for 5-10 minutes, then wipe up.
I was buying their Anti-stink mats for around the toilet, but not anymore. When they became saturated with urine, they got slippery - alittle dangerous. Now we're using the old rug with the rubber on the bottom for around the toilet and we change it everyday. A lot of laundery, but it was cheaper and safer than the mats.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eileen

Eileen- speaking from professional experience, if there is something very dirty you want to get rid of a 1:10 concentration of bleach to water, or 13 oz. of bleach per gallon of water works the best. There are other disinfectant products out there, but for large surfaces (e.g., floors), this is the gold standard in EMS.

For laundry: I used baking soda (large amounts of it) Oxy clean and All with color safe bleach.
I never let soiled or soaked clothing sit in hamper or laundry basket, they went straight to washing machine.
I used the 10 minute presoak prior to washing and always used hot water, no matter what I was washing for her.
I used dryer sheets in the dryer.

For Cermaic tile floors in bathroom, I used 1:13 ratio of water and white vinegar. I used the same ratio of vinegar and
water in a spray bottle for the toilet, baseboards and wall behind the toilet. I also used the same spray bottle
of vinegar/water when cleaning off her hospital bed mattress (vinyl cover) before sheet went back on.

For chairs and wheelchair cushions: I always made sure there was a thick absorbent towel next to the cushion
and a washable hospital bed pad on top of that just in case she had an accident (and there were several). I changed
those every day and washed them.

I cleaned the arms of her wheelchair daily with lysol wipes. I also sprayed down her comfy chair arms, cushions
and back with fabreeze every day (I also did the same with her wheelchair).

One of the main things I did to cut down on any odor was make sure I cleansed her body really well 2 x day and
gave a good shower and washed hair 2 x week.

*** side note: I discovered purely by accident that a little bit (about 3 tsp worth) of dishwashing liquid (Joy citrus burst) in the laundry
instead of All detergent worked well to remove odor from her laundry as well. I didn't discover it until about a month ago so I don't
know if cleaned as well.. but the clothes that got washed with the joy (that one time) was really saturated and smelled bad and they
smelled fresh and clean when I took them out of the washer and put them in the dryer.
