You are a wonderful daughter Skygirl, she is very lucky to have you. Best of luck with all of the issues you are dealing with. Blessings.

hiYa Sky,
I can't imagine being put down for not being 24/7!
I'm only a mile away from my Daddy, who is in an ALF (he lived
with my son and I for a few horrible months, which is the period
of time I discovered so many of you over on the other board).
I find myself much more in the role of "care manager" now
than actual, hands-on caregiver. It has its own challenges.
I will forever be in awe, though, of those who have managed
and are managing to do it 24/7.
See ya 'round!
Carol

Sky - for the record, I have never felt you any less of a caregiver than anyone else. Why? Because you obviously CARE enough to worry and try your best. That's really the definition of a caregiver, now isn't it! :D

Love and hugs, friend. Welcome.

I'm finally here to join the fun and support of each other. I lost my Daddy to Alz. last Nov. 6, so coming up on the 1st anniversary. Mother preceded him by 2 years so I went through lots of grief a few months after Daddy died.

BUT, I'm doing well, taking good care of myself, enjoying life and loving on my grandson, Colin (2.5yrs.). God is good and saw me through each step, as He has always done.

I've got a daughter, who is currently living in my parent's house a block away, with Colin; and a son, who is living with me. I'm retired, p-t babysitter, very involved in my church, garden whenever the weather permits, and frequently get together with friends. I've been a widow since 1996 and am quite happy being single and free!

My faith defines who I am, as I have had multiple challenges in my life, not the least of which is being a 3x cancer survivor, a mentally retarded brother, an alcoholic sister and a husband with AIDS. Lots of challenges! God walked with me every step, including through my caregiving days with my parents.

I love to laugh and have fun and experience the joy of life with good friends. I pray that this board will continue to be a place for comfort, support, encouragement and FUN!

God bless you.
Ann
