:D Hello! My screen name is Rain. I used to participate in another forum but haven't done much in the way of reaching out for help and support, or sharing what I have learned with others.

My dad is who I'm taking care of. We started down this road in August of 2005. That's when I quit my full-time job to be dad's buddy. Last week his 'walks' increased and he became sneaky about it...waiting for us to be busy and then running out the door. He was okay with surpervised walks until something snapped last week. We went to Alzheimer Alliance and got him a wrist watch 'gps' known as Project lifesaver. He is still wearing his bracelet from Safe Return but we needed a tracking device.

Today, we signed him up at a AD Residential Care so that we can drop him off on a weekend so we can get some respite care. He thinks it's a hotel. We'll do a test run in a week or two.

It's nice to come here and recognize familiar screen names. You are awesome, and it makes me happy that you're still plugging away.

Big Hugs to all.

Rain

Rain,

Hello and welcome!

So glad to have you on this wonderful forum. You will love our group here, they are caring and informative people that are going through or have been through it all. Some of our members have love ones that have passed on, but they still continue to support us. And we have Tracy, who has early onset. She helps us look at the other side of AD, and what are loved ones are really feeling.

Aitan is our head honcho here, and is always around for any questions we may have, technical or AD related. He is wonderful.

And Carol and Lori our moderators are great. Always here to keep this a safe and comforting sight.

Come to us as often as you can. We're here to help and support you.

Again, welcome!

Jackie

Welcome, Rain. My Daddy LOVES to walk, too! I investigated
that Project Lifesaver for him, but he moved into an ALF before
we completed the process. It looks like a terrific program.
I'm looking forward to your posts, and thanks for coming!
Carol

Hello Rain,

Welcome to the site. It is wonderful here and you will always find a suggestion or answer to your question or problems. I am caregiver for my mother. So many of us have made that our full time jobs, even if our LO doesn't realize it.

Please visit often. Look forward to hearing from you.

Hey Rain, welcome! I haven't heard of that watch GPS until you brought it up, but I think of how helpful that would have been when my grandmother was in that wandering stage.

See you on the posts ;)
