Not sure what all to say as an introduction. Mom has had AD for a lot longer than any of us realized. I moved back "home" 5 years ago and it took 2 1/2 years to get anyone from the medical profession to diagnose her. I began noticing things right away but our medical help here is for the birds. Went through 3 doctors before I got anywhere.

About me; I am in my 50's, married, have one daughter (28) and do a lot of sewing and quilting to keep sane. Wanted to put a picture with my profile but need to take one first. Am really looking for a "good" place to be able to talk about what is happening without judgments.

My sisters friend told me about this forum so thought I would check it out. My first post got some good information and I really appreciate all of your experience. My siblings are supportive, for the most part, but are too far away to be help on a daily basis.

Let me know what else I can tell you.
:( :) :D

Hi again Linda and welcome. We'll do what we can for you. Just keep on writing, and keep asking questions. Sometimes it just takes awhile for the answers to help. Dealing with AD is not the same as dealing with someone that is just old and forgetting some.

In the meantime, try to read as many as the posts as you can. They are very informative and you may find someone that has had the same things as your having with your Mom. Use the search and type in meds, or anything you may want to read about. The forum has been here awhile, so there is alot to go through.

And no judging here. We're all in the same boat, so we know how you feel. And wait until you can give "your" first bit of advice to us. What a wonderful feeling it is. We give here, but we take too. So nice to have you here, and I'm hoping we can help. Just know we're here, and keep on writing.

Welcome to our little family. We promise there will be no judgement here. What ever you go through with this disease, you will usually find at least one other person who has gone through the same thing. I am sorry the doctor took so long to diagnose this. That is just something I don't understand and yet a lot of people have had that same experience.

Please feel free to share anything, vent when you need to, cry when that's all you seem to be able to do and even scream when you want to. This is a safe place.

Welcome Linda,

Glad you found us. I enjoyed meeting your sister, she is very sweet. My sister lives 8 1/2 hrs. away kindof like yours but really wishes she could be closer to help more, like yours. At least we have sisters who will listen, that is truly a blessing.

Take care,

~Kelly~
