OK Friends,
I'm back requesting some extra prayers for my granddaughter, 15 years old. She is a big soccer nut and last week while playing her heart started racing and she started coughing and couldn't breath. They pulled her off the field and she went to her knees as soon as she reached the side lines. The coach said her lips were purple when she came off the field. They paged my daughter from the stands and took her to the ER. When there they did an EKG and said it looked good. Then they started the it could be she is a little dehydrated and she has a little congestion, you know the stories you hear about ER visits.
The next day daughter took her to her own doctor and they did another EKG and said it looked good. They put her on a heart monitor that she is supposed to wear for 21 days. She said she felt like a robotic freak, but at least she got to wear a cell phone on her belt so the other kids would be jealous.
Tomorrow she is scheduled for an appointment with a pediatric cardiologist. So I'm asking for prayers that everything will come out good.

Oh Joyce, I am so sorry to hear of your granddaughter's troubles. Hopefully all these tests will reveal any problems she is having and they can get her treated. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Daughter just called. Granddaughter has: super vertricular tachy cardia or AV nodal re-entrant tachy cardia
big names. Something to do with the electrical impulses in the heart not going in the pattern they are supposed to go. Instead they go around in a circle, he said like a dog chasing it's tail. Or, there are two entry points for the impulses. Either way it is not life threatening and can be corrected. He wants her to start playing soccor again and hope she has another episode so he will know for sure. She must still wear the monitor to record anything that happens.
That's all she wanted to hear, everything else was just a bunch of words. Thanks Eileen, Kelly and Karen.

Joyce,

Glad to hear that they may be on the right track. Will be praying for your granddaughter.

Joyce,
You know, its bad enough with parents and spouse getting illnesses, but when it happens with the children and grandchildren we feel so very helpless. I'm soooo very glad to hear that your granddaughters cardio problem can be corrected. I'm sure it's been a very worrisome time for all. I have to say though, I wouldn't be thrilled with her going out to play soccer again to see if it happens a second time, but obviously the doctor thinks that the best way to determine exactly what is happening. But I'm thinking more like a grandparent.

Please keep us updated on whats going on. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

love to you,
Jackie

It looks like we think alike Jackie. I'm not too keen on her playing either, just to see if it will happen again so they can see it on the monitor. If it can be fixed, then fix it don't wait for it to happen again.

How scary this must have been for you all! It sounded like maybe a fluke hyperventilation thing, but wow, yeah, big names. So glad to hear it can be treated. But I'm like y'all, wish she didn't have to go through it again! She sounds like one tough young lady, Joyce. Bless her heart, to have to go through this at such a young age. I'm sorry. Sure am glad to hear she can get back on the field though! I'm sure that's all she wanted.

Will keep her in my prayers.

Thinking of you and your granddaughter in my daily prayers, Joyce. Even if it is not life-threatening, I know I would be afraid that the next time she might pass out and injure herself!

Keep us posted on what they will be doing to fix it.
