O.K I now absloutely feel nothing but hatred toward Mom's Attorney & Mom's Husband! I just had gotten back from my walk (2.5 miles) Bundled up like an Eskimo, and checked my mail upon my return. What I thought might be a nice note from my Mom, envelope filled out by her husband, was HARSH!

My first cousin informed me last month, that my Mother was a defendent a law Suit with him, by an Oil Company. I believe I contacted her Attorney first, because it sounded, serious, and I knew she had to repond within 20 days. I then called my Mom, and the poor thing didn't have a clue WHAT I was talking about, so I proceeeded to talk with her First Cousin in Shreveport (an Attorney) and my Cousin, and her Attorney, to create a plan. Mom didn't know if they had even been 'served' whcih is pretty unusual, with a person saying "You've been served" or by mail, signiature required, in any case, would be out of the ordinary, but talking to the two of them, is like talking to two two-year-olds now??!! Well, we decided to use my Cousin's Attorney in Texas (we had to have one) but the little toxic note I came home to (it is just sinking in) was a two age copy, of a bill from Mom's Attorney, who charged us $1,300.00 for returning four phone calls, and four E-Mails??? INSANE! Then Mom beng sweet (although I can just see Tom standing over her shoulder saying what to write!) "Hi Honey, I just wanted you to know what was going on. And P.S. You are forbidden to ever contact my attorney, again??!!!" WHAT??? Tom has done this before, if there are ever any charges, that have my name next to them, he copies the entire bill, and mails it to me, to shame me, I guess, and guess what? IT IS NOT HIS MONEY!!! I wish I could prove that he has 'goughed' my Mom for at least $40,000.00 in cash, in the last 3 1/2 year, and anything else he wants, he just fills out a check to himself! I HATE him!!!!!

I'm so sorry this is all so crazy for you and your mom Sky, you must be just beside yourself with frustration and grief. I cried the other day because since one of Mom's caregivers at her home has moved on she is no longer getting her face washed or teeth brushed daily and I think that is not okay, my dad is paying a ton of money to have her there and you would think they could wash her face and brush her teeth daily. You must be laughing now since that is in no way a big deal considering what is happening to your mom, but to me it has been building. Also, I found that her bed had no top sheet and not one blanket, just the scratchy comforter. Makes me see red for the moment to think that they put her to bed in the middle of winter with no blankets.

It must be so difficult for you to be so far away and not be able to do something and then to get crazy letters like that, oh horrors. Wish I could help out, but....

Oh no Kelly, I feel VERY strongly about my Mom's & your Mom's hygiene! It is not just for vanity, it crosses the line, and can become dangerous. I never know what kind of actual care she is getting (and she is the wrong person to ask) until I get there. I am so upset at her husband, I may never go back, until he is gone.

Why wouldn't I contact my Mom's Attorney, when I was the first one to be notified, that she was actively engaged in a Law Suit? It would be like me telling his daughter, she is forbidden to contact her Father's Attorney, who is handling all of his Estate? Just not O.K???

You poor thing, I don't know how you manage to stay sane. I am so sorry you have to jump through hoops and climb over obstacles each and every time you want to interact with your mom. I really can't begin to imagine how hard it is for you. Anger, frustration, betrayal, fear for mom's safety and well-being are daily burdens for you.

But you are fighting the good fight and you have to keep doing everything you can for mom and her situation. You know you can always come here and rant until your heart eases and you will always find strong shoulders and understanding hearts to share your troubles.

I continue to pray for your strength and courage.
