I think I got an E-Mail from Aitan today, but anyway, have been meaning to check in. I may have said "I am never going again!" I lied. I came very close to getting a really good job. It was a big successful company R.E.I. They are opening here in May. I made it through two On-Line Apps, three phone calls, to various Managers, Admin, and had SIX glowing referrals. There were 600 applicants, and I made it down to about 80 possibles, and had a TWO-HOUR Group Interview, that I thought I aced, then I got cut?! It was really just a glorified cashiers job, with great benefits, (Cadillac Medical, Dental, Eye, even for just 14 hours per week!) but I was kind of shocked, not to get it? Anyway, the last man at that group interview, was one of the Managers, and as it turned out, we not only went to the same High School, we graduated in the same class? More Kizmit, right? I asked him on my way out, something like "My Mother is quite ill, and elderly, and I guess I have to ask, if I got 'The Emergency' phone call, could I go?" And he said "Of course?"

Then I realized, I had just sealed my fate, the next time I was to see my Mother was when she was in a Hospital, or even worse. I did have mixed feelings about that, for sure. Well, I didn't get it, so I am planning another visit, and if I could just find SOMEWHERE else to stay, it could be great! They have that four hours of care, in the morning, and besides getting to know the girls, and seeing how Tom is REALLY doing, I would just pop in the afternoons, and hopefully take Mom out to get her hair done, go for a walk, whatever? Mom is still up on her feet, she sounds pretty darn good, except her short term memory, and word recall, are gone. Tom seems like he is heavily medicated, or had another stroke, or something, and of course because we are not really relatives, I may never know? I still do not like the thought of the two of them being ALONE for 20 hours per day, but what can I do about that? Nothing, that's what.

So, after all my disappointments, with the Job=Fail, and money, you name it, I had a really nice Easter, I almost pulled the covers over my head, and said "Forget About It!" But instead, I went to Church, it was great, went by my coffee shop, they gave me a Latte' for FREE, then washed my Car, & went to Brunch, where I met these two little ones!

Sorry about the job, I don't know about Mont. but a fourth of the workers in Mich are without jobs right now. The job just wasn't meant for you, at least that has always been my thinking. If I wasn't supposed to get something then I wouldn't get it and vice versa. That think doesn't help your money situation though.

You'll be in Calif. mid May and I hope to be back up north about that same time. Have a good trip and a good visit with your mom.

I'm glad you'll be going to see mom again. Enjoy every minute you are able to spend with her. They add up to mountains of wonderful memories you will keep always.

And I hope you didn't mean you weren't going to come back here ????? We would miss you so much. I know the forum hasn't been real active lately. i guess most of us have moved on to former status. But we are still here for all of you who are still active caregivers and want to lend our support and love and understanding ears whenever you can share...........................

So very sorry about the job. I guess it wasn't meant to be like everyone said, but it's really hard to think that way. I hate to see everyone struggling like this. Keep on trying, something will come up.

I hope you have a great visit with your Mom, although I know Tom always puts a damper on that for you. That's ok that you have to stay there. Spend as much time with her as you can Sky, it'll be ok. You seem to adust pretty good, and I know your time with her is precious. Of course if you could get Tom to go somewhere, that would be perfect.

I almost decided to leave my Computer behind, it is acting up so badly, and on it's last legs, but if anything gets WORSE, or an Emergency comes up (like every day isn't one, when I am there?) I'll need it to pay my bills. So, I will check in, from the road.
