6" of snow during the night..For the morning is continued snow with sleet and possible thunder and cloud to ground lightning. Snow falling at the rate of 1"+ per hour expected to continue until this afternoon. Possible additional 6" - 8" before it ends.
This is our first winter storm warning for the winter so we're doing pretty good.

I hope Aitan isn't planning on heading home from Chicago today.

Oh gosh, I'm freezing just thinking about it.

We have been having unusual weather for CA. We had 2 days this week where the high was 45 and the lows have been in the 30's. Fortunately it is warming up now and we should be back to 70 next week sometime. The cool thing here is that we are surrounded by mountains so while it may get warm here in the valley, we can still see the snow covered mountains.

I hope all you people out there in snow country are being very careful. I can't even imagine driving in snow and ice.

I'm NOT going any where today. I may not even open the door to get the mail. Unless Bill's hospital gowns come. Then I'll chance it.

Yes, Lori, those of us who experienced our first snowstorm earlier (and without any kind of storm warning I might add!) are being very careful. However, once the sun came out, it did warm up enough for shorts, sandals and air conditioning. I think today will be in the 70's. Of course, it has been so foggy - kinda' llike nighttime London and Jack the Ripper!

Image Anyway, as a precaution, I moved my personal snowman, Sam, (remember him?) into the house and will put him back outside for the next snowstorm in a few years. I have to admit, and I don't understand why, poor Sam has lost some weight being here in the dining area looking out over the backyard. I guess his weight loss is due to loneliness. He must be pining away for Samantha, who obviously can't come around until the next snowstorm.

Joyce43, do you think you could send about a 10-inch Samantha to south central Texas. I know Sam would be so excited. If you are willing, please overnight express her because I'm not sure how much more weight Sam can lose while he is pining away.

Image With such happiness, we could all become little Sammy's grandparents! Image So, please, Joyce43, won't you help?

Dear Joyce W.

I would gladly send more than one Sam and Samantha your way, but I'm afraid our snow in Jackson, MI isn't the kind for making even a snowball! So far, we have over 7 inches of snow but it looks like we're on the tail end of this storm.

Boy, am I happy that I didn't have a client today! I think I'll treat my house as if it were somebody else's and maybe get it dusted and vacuumed, etc., so I can have company tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Joyce and Bill,

If I lived a lot closer, I would be over to help you with whatever you needed, including trying to get your mail! We will be in the general area on the 27th, weather permitting, to celebrate Mom's 80th Birthday (December 30, 1928). I plan on being in the area much earlier. Will you be up to having a visitor bearing gifts and cleaning supplies?

I'm always up for company, Deb. You don't even have to bringing gifts and cleaning supplies. Just let me know what time. I would guess the gifts are for your mother. Cleaning supplies? Those things, I don't use any more. Don't have time for such things.

Joyce, I'll see if I can find Samantha. It may be next week before I get a chance to look, but I'll do my best before Sam wastes away to nothing.
