Hi Sarah! Thanks so much for the update. I'm glad your
Mom is coming along OK and that you're finding things to
be able to laugh about. Please don't ever worry about
"contributing" here. Just asking a question is in itself a
tremendous contribution. Kind of like when we were back
in school and the teacher said that if you have a question,
you should speak up, because it's almost guaranteed that
someone else has the same question. We all benefit.
Just knowing we're together in a very big boat helps...
And we're all here to help patch up those leaks that seem
to constantly pop up! OK, enough of the silly analogy.
I'm just happy to see you.
Carol

Thanks, Jackie and Carol--I'm glad we could share a laugh. :) A good sense of humor has always been one of my family's strongest traits, but sometimes in the stress of caregiving it's hard to remember that. I need to, though, because it's also one of the best ways to cope. Hugs to both of you.

I am still here but only reading at this time. I only have email at work and so have little time for personal posting. I try to get in to read a couple times a week. Unfortunately works gets in my way  go figure.

That's the problem with work joon. They expect us to just work.

Boy, I'm glad I'm through with that. Of course, I could use the pay check.

Hey there again! I can't believe that it's been since July when I last came out of hiding! Trying to keep up with work and my online classes wears me out. Last Christmas I posted about my depression and have been on Celexa since January. I don't feel overwhelmed by stress but it has made me pretty unmotivated. I'm in the process of weaning myself off - doing yoga and working out with a trainer which should help the stress a lot without the drugs anymore - I hope.

I miss the days when I was online with you all either here or the other place daily. It was such a great support system - nobody knows what we're going through if they haven't been through it themselves. My mom is hanging in there...doesn't seem to be progressing too quickly. She still knows us and still has a voracious appetite. She broke off her front two teeth so many times that the dentist stopped bonding them. They're not painful or bad enough to cause any problems and the dentist didn't want to put her through a more complex crown process. Unfamiliar places seem to stress her out so much. My goal at this point is to keep her as happy and comfortable as possible through the end of this journey.

I'll be in LA tomorrow to do the walk again this year. I haven't seen any posts about it so I don't know if any of you who were there last year will be doing it again this year. I'm going to make an effort to check in at least once a week.

So glad to "see" you again, Joanie. I'm glad to hear
you are all hanging in there OK, and I wish you luck
with the weaning effort. I know it can be a tough battle,
but it sounds like you're working it out.
Keep popping in!
Carol

Hi Joanie - Good to hear from you again. Sounds like you have alot on your plate with work and those online classes. Glad to hear that your mom is doing well. I know what you mean about the teeth. Mom lost a tooth, bottom front, a few months back, and it would have really been a big deal to get it fixed too. The dentist said that its just too much on them to crown or bridge it or whatever they would have to do. So for now she remains without a tooth. But she doesn't even seem to notice its missing anymore, and never mentions it.

Let us know how that yoga works out. I would also one day like to get off my Zoloft, but at this point if I did without some substitution, they would probably arrest me for attempted murder!!

I know what you mean about your goal keeping your Mom happy and comfortable. That is mine too, but most times she just won't let me. She is so very stubborn, and as each day goes by gets worse.

Let us know how the walk went. And send some pictures if you meet up with any of our members. I do remember someone on here mentioning it, but forgot who. Oh, I think one was Jezza. I think he said he will be there. But not sure who else mentioned it.

Take care, and hoping to hear from you soon.

Jackie
